Drawing and painting – personal project – online

This online discussion group is designed for learners who have some experience and are already drawing and painting at home but would like to develop their work through a personal project, with guidance and support. The tutor will set tasks for you to complete independently, and all participants are encouraged to share their work and ideas with each other during the weekly livestream meetings.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
Some experience would be beneficial.

Learning Goals:
Explore a range of drawing and painting styles, themes and artists. Develop your confidence to produce drawings and paintings to your specifications. Complete a minimum of two personal project pieces. Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will contact you to help you prepare for your distance learning course. Sessions will include a range of group and individual activities through livestream meetings, video links and other online means.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of assessment methods through livestream group meetings and learner feedback, including photos and videos where possible.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
The tutor will discuss this with you in your first session.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
You will need internet access and some basic art materials to complete this course at home. Further information including a list of suggested materials will be emailed two weeks before the start date.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
For the first class you will need paper or a notebook and a pencil or pen.

Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of art, pottery and performing arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.
