Nominations now open for the Mayor of Lewisham Community Awards 2023

Lewisham’s residents are being urged to make their nominations for the sixth Mayor of Lewisham Community Awards – an annual opportunity to celebrate the unsung local heroes who are making a positive difference across the borough.

The Mayor’s Award scheme was launched in 2017 to champion all those who are going above and beyond for their communities. It might be helping a neighbour in need; coaching a sports team; running a community choir; giving up their free time to volunteer; incredible acts of selflessness; donating food and more.

We want to celebrate and reward the amazing people, groups and businesses whose contributions improve the borough - changing lives, building community spirit and helping others stay safe and well. Their tireless work and commitment is what makes Lewisham such a special place. We also want to spotlight the power of doing good together to inspire others.

Who do you think should receive an award? There are four categories open for entries, including:

  • Individual
  • Young Person (age 21 and under)
  • Business
  • Faith or Community Group

Say a big thank you and nominate your heroes online now. Alternatively, if you require a paper application form with a freepost envelope, please contact ursula.goldfinger@lewisham.gov.uk.

Nominations for the Mayor’s Community Awards close on Monday 30 January 2023. All who are nominated, will receive an award and recipients will be announced at in-person ceremony in March 2023.

Sponsors for the awards include Lewisham Local; Phoenix Community Housing; Lewisham Homes; and Goldsmith’s, University of London.
