The Planning Inspectorate has now appointed Mr Douglas Machin DIPTP BSC MRTPI to hold the examination into the soundness of the Lewisham Core Strategy development plan document (DPD).
The purpose of the examination is to consider whether the Core Strategy is ‘sound’. Further information about ‘soundness’ and the examination process can be found in the documents below.
Pre-hearing meeting
A pre-hearing meeting was held on Wednesday 8 December 2010 to discuss the management of the examination. The documents below were sent to those who have made representations on the Lewisham Core Strategy DPD.
Examination hearings
The examination hearings took place on 1, 2 February 2011.

Additional representations and Council statements
Further written representations were made to the Schedule of Recommended Amendments to the Core Strategy. The Council also prepared written statements to address the Inspector's matters to be examined.

Lewisham Council and English Heritage have prepared a Statement of Common Ground to address representations raised by English Heritage (particularly those relating to soundness) following the submission of the Core Strategy to the Secretary of State in October 2010.
English Heritage have prepared a statement in response to the Statement of Common Ground that was submitted to the Inspector on 14 January 2011.
Lewisham Council have produced a response to part of a representation by National Grid regarding the consultation on the Core Strategy Submission Version which was not dealt with by the Council immediately following the consultation period. As a result, a minor amendment is required to Core Strategy Policy 4. This document details the additional requested change.
Lewisham Council response to changes proposed by Millwall Football Club to the Core Strategy Strategic Site Allocation 3. The response follows previous representations by Millwall Football Club and discussions during the Examination in Public.
Lewisham Council have produced a Schedule of Further Recommended Amendments to the Lewisham Core Strategy as of 17 January 2011. This document will continue to be updated with any further recommended amendments which become apparent during the examination process.
