We're looking to appoint a Chair of the Lewisham Disabled People's Commission

The Commission – which will be led by disabled people – will ensure residents are involved in defining services that help address social, economic, attitudinal and physical barriers affecting disabled people in the borough.

The Lewisham Disabled People’s Commission was established in line with the council’s corporate priority to ensure public services are more accessible to residents. It will launch formally on International Day of of Disabled People on 3 December 2019.

Councillor Jonathan Slater, Cabinet Member for the Community Sector, said: ‘The commission will play a vital role in identifying barriers faced by disabled people and working to address them. This is a fantastic opportunity and I am looking forward to welcoming a Chair to oversee such an important piece of work.

The Chair will have a key role in directing the scope of the Commission and work closely Lewisham councillors and officers to develop the Commission’s strategic direction.
