Lewisham appoints new Chief Executive

Jennifer Daothong has been recommended for appointment as Lewisham Council’s new Chief Executive

Damien Egan, Mayor of Lewisham, said: “The recruitment process involved three stakeholder panel interviews with representatives from the community, partner organisations and elected councillors, followed by a final Member Panel of five councillors. Jennifer really impressed everyone with her passion and ambition for Lewisham, which really stood out throughout the process.

“Jennifer has been our Acting Chief Executive since April, and before that she was our Executive Director of Housing, Regeneration and Public Realm. She has made a great impact in that time; from leading the transition of Lewisham Homes and setting out our approach to managing our budget at this very challenging time.”

Jennifer’s appointment will be subject to Council ratification on Wednesday 17 January.

Jennifer Daothong said: “I’m thrilled to have been appointed Chief Executive. Lewisham is a very special place; every day we deliver a huge range of services for our residents, and work tirelessly with our partners to improve the lives of those who live, work and study here. We’re on an exciting journey; Lewisham is gaining a reputation for being an innovative and pioneering Council, and I’m proud to have been appointed permanent Chief Executive at such an important time for our borough.”
