Have your say on our revised developer fees for local infrastructure
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge that the Council can apply to new developments in the area. The money raised is used to fund essential infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads, parks, and leisure facilities.
The current rates have been in place since April 2015. To improve fairness in regeneration and development across the borough as well as ensuring infrastructure is delivered where it’s most needed, the Council is now proposing to update the charges. The proposed rates also aim to reflect changes to development costs, viability assessments and evolving local priorities.
Now, we are seeking feedback on the proposed changes, outlined in the Draft Charging Schedule (DCS). The DCS is informed by evidence produced by specialist consultants.
Residents, businesses, community groups, developers and other stakeholders are encouraged to comment on the proposed changes before 11.59pm on Sunday 12 October 2025. Find out more and how to have your say on the CIL Draft Charging Schedule.
Councillor James-J Walsh, Lewisham Council’s Cabinet Member for Inclusive Regeneration and Planning said: “Lewisham is growing, and we’re making sure growth works for everyone. Our updated Community Infrastructure Levy means that when developers profit, they also pay their fair share for the schools, health services, transport and community spaces our residents need. This is how we turn development into real benefits for every neighbourhood.”
