Emissions-based parking charges aim to improve air quality
We are taking strong steps to help improve air quality and protect people’s health, especially children and older people.
Following a consultation last summer with residents, Mayor and Cabinet agreed on 15 January 2020 to implement a revised parking policy which will come into effect on 1 April 2020.
New banded charges for resident and business parking permits will be introduced based on a vehicle’s CO2 emissions. Permits for those with the least polluting vehicles will be cheaper than current permits, while those with the most polluting vehicles will pay more.
