Livesey Memorial Hall

A statement from Councillor Paul Bell, Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning

"The Grade II listed Livesey Memorial Hall and its sports grounds are valued community spaces and much loved by local residents and Lewisham Council. They are recognised as an Asset of Community Value by the Council and we want to see the community use of the hall and sports grounds retained. We would urge the landowner to focus on positive engagement with the existing operator, adjoining land owners and the community to secure its future for the people of Bell Green and Bellingham.

While the Council does not own the building, we will do everything we can to ensure it is protected and maintained, including taking enforcement action if necessary. Any further proposals that put the future use of the Livesey Hall at risk will be strongly resisted and we will continue to ensure that our emerging local plan protects this important asset. The Council will continue to support the community who want to see this important asset retained and available for their use."
