Helping older people stay healthy, happy and independent.

Age UK Lewisham & Southwark is a local charity that supports older people in Lewisham. They run helpful services, fun activities, and give advice to keep people connected, active and well.

What you can get help with

Age UK can help you if you are:

  • feeling lonely or need a friend
  • looking for help with shopping or going out
  • finding it hard to stay healthy or manage at home
  • caring for someone else and need advice
  • unsure about benefits or money

You don’t need to struggle alone.

Friendly staff and volunteers are here to help.

Healthy Living & Learning Service

The Healthy Living Centre, 70-72 Cranfield Road, Brockley SE4 1UG.

The Healthy Living Centre is a warm and welcoming space where older people can take part in fun, social, and healthy activities.

  • join fitness classes like yoga, tai chi or dance
  • learn new skills like cooking, digital basics or crafts
  • get free health advice and wellness checks
  • join coffee mornings, quizzes, and community meals
  • enjoy the garden and calm space

All sessions are inclusive and designed to help you feel better in body and mind. Some classes are drop-in; others may need booking.

Outreach and Support in the Community

Can’t get to the centre?

Age UK can still help by:

  • visiting you at home
  • helping you get out and about
  • running dementia-friendly support groups
  • offering help with small tasks or finding local services ‍‍

Befriending and volunteering

If you’re feeling lonely, Age UK can match you with a trained volunteer for regular chats - by phone or in person.

Volunteering

You can give back by becoming a volunteer:

  • make a friendly phone call
  • help in classes or events
  • deliver books, food or leaflets
  • be a walking buddy or activity helper

Volunteers make a real difference and receive training and support.

Need advice?

Age UK’s Information & Advice Service can help you with:

  • benefits and pensions
  • housing or care choices
  • managing bills or debts
  • health and wellbeing support
  • planning for the future

They can also help carers get the support they need.
