Entering into contracts with consumers

Rules you have to bear in mind when entering into contracts with consumers.

If your business enters into contracts with consumers, whether on your own trade premises, off your trade premises, or by distance selling, you must make sure you are abiding by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 set out:

  1. information required to be provided to consumers

  2. that telephone help-lines provided by traders to consumers who have entered into contracts with them must be basic rate numbers for both landline and mobile users

  3. that the period for consumers to cancel a contract entered into off a trader’s premise or by distance selling is now 14 days
