Planning application approved for new council homes in Perry Vale

Who the homes are for

This 100% affordable housing scheme will provide 26 new homes made up of a mix of two and three-bed flats. These homes will provide temporary accommodation for homeless families, as well as six supported living homes for residents with learning difficulties and/or autism.

Why this is important

There are currently around 2000 families occupying temporary accommodation throughout the borough, with 600 of them staying in nightly paid accommodation.

Working in partnership with the NHS and the ‘Transforming Care Programme’, the supported living accommodation will help residents to live more independently in a safe, inclusive and integrated setting. As part of the development, supported living residents will be provided with 24/7 on-site care and support, as well as an attractive communal garden space for their sole use.

A new special educational needs school is also planned for construction directly opposite the site. The location offers opportunities for strong links to be created between the school, new homes and wider activities in the local community.

When the work is planned to start

We will be working collaboratively with our housing company, Lewisham Homes to achieve an on-site start date in spring 2020.
