Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating in Lewisham

Ideas to help you celebrate Eid safely.

Our Muslim community are a valued part of our diverse community in Lewisham.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Lewisham’s Eid in the Park event won’t be going ahead this year. However, there are still plenty of ways that you can celebrate Eid. Here you will find some ideas to help you celebrate safely.

Feasting

Eating together is a key part of any Eid celebration. Eid al-Fitre means ‘festival of the breaking of the fast.’ Share your special recipes with friends and family safely. You can meet in groups of six or two households outdoors, including in a private garden. You must continue to maintain a safe distance of 2 metres.

Connect virtually

During Eid celebrations, it’s traditional to share and exchange gifts. If you’re unable to meet friends and family safely outdoors, connect virtually so that you can share those special moments.

Prayers

This year, in line with Government restrictions, Eid prayers will be taking place at the Lewisham Islamic Centre. For more information on Eid prayers visit the Lewisham Islamic Centre website.
