Occupational therapy
Occupational Therapy (OT) is about helping you live your life as independently, safely, and fully as possible - especially if you are recovering from illness or managing a disability or long-term condition.
Whether it’s support with everyday tasks, finding new ways of doing things, or adapting your home environment, occupational therapists work with you to build confidence and independence in daily life.
What can occupational therapy help with?
Occupational therapists can support you with: Getting dressed, washing, and other personal care Cooking, household chores, and managing your home Moving around safely and confidently Finding new ways to do things after an injury, stroke, or illness Accessing equipment or making changes to your home Managing fatigue, memory, or cognitive challenges Preventing falls and maintaining your independence Shape
Who we support
You can get help from our Adult Occupational Therapy team if:
- you are aged 18 or over
- you live in the borough of Lewisham or have a Lewisham GP
- you are housebound or your needs relate directly to your home or community
- you are struggling with day-to-day activities due to illness, injury or disability
- we work across a range of settings, including people’s homes, care homes, and supported housing
Please note: we do not offer maintenance therapy or see people whose primary need is due to a learning disability - there are other specialist services for this.
The Lewisham Adult Therapy Team (LATT)
Our occupational therapists are part of the Lewisham Adult Therapy Team, which also includes physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and rehabilitation assistants. Together, we provide joined-up support to help you regain skills and live more independently.
