Physiotherapy can help if you’ve had an injury, illness or surgery — or if you’re just finding it harder to move around. It supports you to improve strength, balance and movement, so you can live safely and confidently at home and in the community.

What is physiotherapy?

Where can you get physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy may take place:

• in your own home
• at an outpatient clinic (eg. Lewisham Hospital or Waldron Health Centre)
• in a group setting (eg. falls prevention or rehab classes)
• you may be offered a face-to-face appointment or, in some cases, a telephone or video consultation.

Outpatient physiotherapy in Lewisham

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust runs outpatient physiotherapy services for adults. These are usually for people who do not need hospital care but still need help managing a condition or recovering from injury.

Outpatient physiotherapy includes help with:

• muscle or joint pain (like back, neck, shoulder or knee pain)
• recovery from broken bones or after surgery
• mobility, posture and daily movement problems

How to get physiotherapy support

You may be referred to a physiotherapist by:
