Reserving library items

Find out how to reserve library items.

If an item is on loan or at another branch, you can reserve it. This includes items from other authorities within the London Libraries Consortium (listed in our online catalogue). We will tell you when your reservation is ready for collection.

What you can reserve

You can reserve books, language courses, DVDs and music CDs.

What you pay

  • Adults pay 50p per item.

  • Under 14s do not pay for reservations.

  • There are no charges for reserving digital items.

How many items you can reserve

  • You can reserve up to four eBooks and/or eAudio at a time from OverDrive.
  • You can download and checkout newspapers, magazines and graphic novels in RBDigital and PressReader an unlimited number of times.
  • For all other items you can reserve up to 30 at a time.

How to reserve a library item

You can reserve items by telephone, at your local library or online.

You will need your library barcode number and PIN. To get your PIN contact your local library.
