Door-to-Tip bulky waste collection trial on Pepys Estate
The trial aims to make it easier for residents to arrange collection of unwanted bulky items. We hope this will help reduce fly-tipping and make estates cleaner and more pleasant places to live.
Instead of leaving items at communal bulky waste collection points, residents will be able to book a collection and have items collected directly from their doorstep.
This new service is called Door-to-Tip.
The first stage of the trial includes the following blocks
- Bence House
- Clement House
- Pendennis House
- Crandley Court
- Pomona
- Hazelwood House
- Trundleys Terrace
If your block is included in a later stage of the trial, we will contact you before any changes are introduced.
Why are we making this change?
We know that communal bulky waste collection points can attract fly-tipping and create untidy areas on estates.
The Door-to-Tip service has been designed to
- reduce fly-tipping
- create cleaner and safer communal areas
- improve the appearance of estates
- make it easier for residents to arrange collection of unwanted bulky items
- provide better support for older residents and those with reduced mobility
What is changing?
Bulky waste collection points in the blocks taking part in the trial will no longer be available.
Instead of leaving items at a collection point, residents will need to book a collection
We will collect approved bulky household items directly from your doorstep.
When will the trial start?
The last collection from the existing bulky waste collection points will take place on 21 September 2026.
Bookings are now open, with the first collections taking place from 28 September 2026.
Before you book
- collections take place on Mondays only
- morning and afternoon collection slots are available
- to have your items collected on Monday, you must book by 1pm on Friday
- same-day collections are not available
- residents can book up to three items per collection
- items must remain inside your home until the agreed collection time
- check the list of items we can't collect before booking

Step 2: Keep your items inside your home
Items must be kept inside your home until your collection time. Don’t leave them in communal areas, corridors, walkways or next to bins.
Step 3: Collection day

Fly-tipping and enforcement
As part of this trial, the existing bulky waste collection points and stores will no longer be available. We will place signs at these locations to remind residents about the new booking service.
We know this is a new way of arranging bulky waste collections, and we want to help residents use the service correctly.
Any waste left at old collection points or elsewhere on the estate will be treated as fly-tipping. This includes bulky items, household waste and rubbish left next to bins.
To help us understand how well the trial is working, we will monitor these areas throughout the trial. Where necessary and appropriate, we may use enforcement measures, such as CCTV and fines, to deal with fly-tipping.

How will we know if the trial is working?
We will look at a range of information, including:
- feedback from residents
- how many residents use the booking service
- whether estates are cleaner and look better
- whether there is less fly-tipping on estates
- information about fly-tipping and enforcement during the trial
This information will help us decide whether Door-to-Tip should become a permanent service and whether it could be introduced on other estates.
Have your say
We want to hear from residents about their experience of using the Door-to-Tip service.
During the trial, we will ask for feedback and share updates on how the service is working. Your comments will help us understand what works well, what could be improved, and whether the service should be introduced more widely.
