Human resources apprentice case study

Eric Osei Tutu started his human resources apprenticeship in 2015–2016, and is now a senior information management and technology officer.

How I started my apprenticeship

Picture of Eric Osei-Tutu apprentice‘My apprenticeship was within the human resources team. I was given a full 360 view of the service starting in recruitment, learning and development, and then advisory – learning how the organisation operates and what was required to support my Lewisham colleagues and wider community.

‘I chose an apprenticeship as I saw it as a great way to get myself in the door and work my way up in a vibrant and diverse working environment. It would provide me the opportunity to grow not only career wise, but as an individual.’

What I’m doing now

‘I’m currently working in IT support as a senior information management and technology officer, supporting the implementation of Oracle Cloud – a new human resources and payroll system. It is a challenging, but rewarding, role.

‘I would recommend apprenticeships to anybody who will listen. If you are considering it as an option, don’t overthink it – just go for it! There’s no way of knowing what great opportunities will be presented to you or how far it will take you.’
