Bellingham Community Clean-up day

As part of Love Lewisham, residents, local community groups and the council are coming together for a day of action to help keep the neighbourhood clean and looking its best.

Grab a litter picker and join your neighbours for a bit of litter picking, then stick around for plenty of free activities and things to do on Bellingham Green.

There’ll be stalls and advice from council services and local community groups, including waste and recycling, the anti-social behaviour team and your local housing association. You can also meet Lewisham Foodbank and local gardening clubs, who’ll be showing off their planting skills.

For anyone is feeling peckish, the Chips and Chat van will be serving up free chips, while giving residents a chance to chat about local services.

There’s plenty for younger residents too, with football skills sessions, arts and crafts, storytelling from Lewisham Libraries and a Young Mayors litter-picking challenge.

Cllr Corin Ashwell, Cabinet Member for Environment, Nature, Transport and Climate Action, said: “We want to make sure our neighbourhoods are clean, green and welcoming places for everyone. Community clean-up days like this are a great way to bring people together, have some fun and make a real difference locally. I’d encourage Bellingham residents to come along, grab a litter picker and join in.”

Love Lewisham is our borough-wide campaign bringing residents, businesses and the Council together to tackle fly-tipping and waste issues, starting with the areas that need it most. We’re improving streets, supporting communities and making it easier to do the right thing - while taking action against illegal dumping.
