In case you missed it: Silver Sunday shines at the Rivoli Ballroom
Organised by Lewisham’s Positive Ageing Council (POSAC), a community-led group that champions issues affecting older people, the afternoon was a true celebration of talent and togetherness. The cabaret showcase featured a wonderfully diverse line-up, ensuring there was something for everyone. The event was officially opened by Councillor Jacq Paschoud, Speaker of Lewisham, with warm words from Councillor Susan Wise and Iris Till, Chair of POSAC. We were also delighted to welcome the Mayor of Lewisham, Brenda Dacres, who made a special appearance to show her support.
Ada Campe expertly hosted the event, maintaining high energy throughout and guiding the audience through a vibrant and varied programme. Highlights included comedian Victoria Howden, the dazzling Medusa Has Been with a mix of song and burlesque, and the awe-inspiring Joan Le Vasseur, an 84-year-old trapeze artist who left everyone amazed. Guests also enjoyed Soul Line Dancing with Carla Gray and Co, and the smooth jazz stylings of Evadne Bygrave. The afternoon closed on a high note with LaBande, whose set had everyone up and dancing.
With over 400 attendees, the event truly reflected the diversity and spirit of Lewisham. The atmosphere was electric. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Rivoli Ballroom, the Young Mayor’s Team, our volunteers and partners, whose support helped bring the event to life.
Looking back, Silver Sunday at the Rivoli Ballroom was more than just an event; it was a joyful reminder of the power of community and the importance of celebrating older people in our borough.
