A four-year-old boy from Catford who goes out litter picking with his mum three times a week has been recognised for his volunteer work by Lewisham Council with a special award.

Isaac and his family joined other local residents and Councillors at a community litter pick this week, where Isaac was presented with a Green Champion award by Cllr Louise Krupski, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Action.

Dubbed the ‘Lord of Litter’ by his family, Isaac goes out with his mum, Jade, three times a week to pick up litter and help keep the neighbouring streets clean and tidy.

Isaac’s mum, Jade, said: “Isaac doesn’t like it when people throw rubbish on the floor - he says it makes the Earth sad. I hope people think twice now about throwing rubbish on the floor knowing it might be a four-year-old picking it up.”

Presenting Isaac with his award, Cllr Louise Krupski said: “Isaac is an example to us all – it's fantastic to see that children in Lewisham are so passionate about looking after our environment and I am delighted that we can celebrate Isaac’s contribution to keeping Lewisham clean and tidy with this award.”

Community litter picks have been taking place across Lewisham this summer as part of Lewisham Council’s Cleaner Lewisham campaign, with local residents, community groups and businesses getting involved.
