For over a decade, the Lewisham Design Review Panel has played a pivotal role in shaping the borough’s built environment, having reviewed more than 150 projects to date. These include major developments and key design planning policy documents, ensuring the delivery of excellent design across Lewisham.

As Lewisham continues to grow, with increasing demand for high-quality housing, retail, community, transport and public realm projects, the new panellists will have a unique opportunity to influence and review some of London’s most high-profile developments. The expert advice of the Panel has contributed to many of the borough’s award-winning schemes, reinforcing Lewisham’s reputation for design excellence.

The new panel features expertise spanning architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and conservation and heritage. It is made up of 37 experts and co-chaired by Dominique Oliver, Graciela Moreno and Hilary Satchwell. The members have been chosen based on their design experience, critical ability, and understanding of development pressures facing the area. Councillor James-J Walsh, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Regeneration and Planning said: “In Lewisham, we’re proud to do regeneration differently.”

“Ten years ago, Lewisham’s planning authority was one of the first to adopt a Design Review Panel, and today we’re proud to renew that commitment. By putting people, place and design quality at the centre of regeneration, we can deliver growth that is fair, sustainable and delivers for our community.”
