A-level and BTEC results day

Many congratulations to young people across the borough who are collecting their A-level and BTEC results today!

Brenda Dacres, Mayor of Lewisham, said:
“I would like to congratulate all the students across the borough who received their A-Level and BTEC results today! I was out with Councillor Edison Huynh, cabinet member for Children and Young People, and local MPs, Vicky Foxcroft and Ellie Reeves and Blackheath councillor Luke Warner, at some of our secondary schools in the borough today to celebrate with our young people on their fantastic achievements.

“Not to be forgotten are the wonderful teachers and education staff for their commitment and dedication to bringing out the best in Lewisham’s young people.”

Cllr Edison Huynh, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, says: “We are really pleased with the strong and improving A-level results. More students are passing and achieving good A and B grades, which shows an improving picture. The number of A and A* grades combined is up from last year, even with a slight dip in A* grades compared with last year’s results.

BTEC students in Lewisham have also achieved improved results, passing vocational qualifications that combine theoretical learning with practical, hands-on experience, which is a further example of the continuing good quality of Lewisham’s schools and colleges. I am looking forward to the GCSE results and will be out and about meeting students to talk to them about their next steps.”

“I would like to congratulate all of our students, teachers, and families on these sets of results and wish our students well in the next chapter of their lives.”
