Adult Learning Service praised for its high-quality information advice and guidance
The re-accreditation confirms the service’s continued commitment to supporting learners to progress into education, employment and new career pathways. Adult Learning Lewisham has maintained matrix accreditation since 2016 and continues to adapt its IAG offer to respond to the borough’s changing economic and social needs.
The service has a dedicated Careers IAG Officer, offering one-to-one support to residents and learners, particularly those facing redundancy, mental health challenges as well as those wanting to change careers, pursue self-employment or progress to higher education.
The service also works closely with social prescribing teams in Lewisham to support some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents. Through these referral routes, individuals can access a bursary fund to help overcome financial barriers to learning, providing opportunities to those who would not otherwise be able to access services and widening participation among underrepresented and disadvantaged groups.
Commenting on the achievement, Cllr Ese Erheriene, Cabinet Member for Business, Jobs and Skills, said:

Receiving re-accreditation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of staff who are committed to making a real difference to the lives of our residents.’
