No You’re Not, Yes I Am: A Portrait of Autistic Women

No You’re Not, Yes I Am: A Portrait of Autistic Women, by documentary photographer Rosie Barnes, opens in Lewisham this March. Through a series of striking portraits and personal interviews, the exhibition gives voice to autistic women from a wide range of communities, exploring the inequalities, misunderstandings and barriers they often face.
The project highlights stories that are rarely heard. Each portrait is paired with first-hand reflections, offering insight into identity, diagnosis, and everyday life. Together, they create a moving and thoughtful picture of neurodiversity, while calling for greater understanding and inclusion.
The exhibition is free to visit and runs from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 March at SET Lewisham, Unit 1, Lewisham Retail Park. Open 2pm to 6pm each day.
A panel discussion will take place on Thursday 26 March at 6–8pm will bring together contributors and experts to explore the themes raised by the project and discuss how society can better support autistic women and girls.
The exhibition has been supported by Lewisham Council Public Health as part of its commitment to the Lewisham All Age Autism Strategy, and contributes to the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS).
Accessibility visits can be arranged through Drumbeat Outreach by emailing: S.Gannon@drumbeat.lewisham.sch.uk
