World leaders are coming to Glasgow at the end of the month for the UN’s climate change conference, COP26. To mark this significant event, Lewisham Council has launched a new campaign which aims to support residents to raise awareness of the climate crisis and to make some changes in their daily lives that will have a positive impact on the future of our planet.

The Council has produced a step-by-step guide as part of the Lewisham Climate Conversation campaign, which shares some inspiration and positive actions that residents can take to decrease their carbon footprint. This includes advice to help start a climate conversation and ten practical and easy ideas that can benefit the planet.

The aim is for the Lewisham Climate Conversation to spark a community discussion that will encourage action across the borough, inform the development of the Council’s climate emergency work and push for change at a national level.

This campaign will go hand-in-hand with other actions that the Council is taking to create a greener Lewisham, including implementing over 25 school streets to help protect young lungs and make it safer for children to walk and cycle to school and developing a framework in consultation with local residents which aims to make Catford the greenest town centre in London.
