Join the library
If you live, work or study anywhere in London you can use our library service.
How to join
Join at any of our libraries with proof of your name and address:
- proof can be paper or electronic and should show your full name and current address
- acceptable documents include a driving licence, council tax bill or household bill dated within the last 3 months
- you will then be given a library card, and will be able to borrow items straight away
Alternatively you can sign up on our website for immediate access to our eLibrary and online resources.
If you'd like to borrow physical books and other items you will then need to visit a library with proof of your name and address to receive your library card.
If you are 13 or under
-
You need a parent, legal guardian or teacher to act as your guarantor.
-
You need to give us your date of birth. This is because some of our books have age restrictions, and because some of our fees vary according to your age.
Visit the Lewisham Libraries website to:
- search the catalogue and reserve items
- access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and comics
- find out about our events and activities
- access online resources and much more
