Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards 2021 - winners announced!
The best of the borough was celebrated at a ceremony on November 10 when six winners were announced at the Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards.
The Awards, which took place at Hatcham House, focused on the achievements and contributions of the fantastic local businesses who adapted during the pandemic and rallied to support communities - as well as those who are leading the borough’s economic recovery from COVID-19.
This year’s Awards received a huge number of nominations across the six categories - with businesses entering themselves or being nominated by others. Judges included Damien Egan, Mayor of Lewisham; Cllr Kim Powell, Cabinet Member for Business and Community Wealth Building; alongside local industry representatives.
Damien Egan, Mayor of Lewisham, said:
“We are so lucky in Lewisham not to have the chain stores which dominate the high streets in so much of the capital. Our local, independent, family-run businesses are the absolute heart and soul of our communities. Which has become more apparent in the last 18 months when many found ways to give back, despite the challenges they faced themselves.
“So it’s great to be able to celebrate them with these awards and remind everyone of just how much they contribute to the borough. They are an asset to us all which is why it’s important that we show our support and shop local. I think we can agree that all the finalists are winners.”
