Lewisham Council pension fund members invited to share views on responsible investment in new survey
The survey is open to those currently paying into the Fund, those no longer paying in but not yet receiving a pension, and people who have retired and are now receiving payment from the Fund.
The Pensions Investment Committee is made up of elected councillors responsible for ensuring the fund is carefully invested and managed in a way that allows all pensions to be paid, according to pensions legislation and regulations.
The survey invites members to share their views on ‘responsible investment’ – how the Committee considers factors such as climate change, human rights and good governance.
Cllr Sian Eiles, Chair of the Pensions Investment Committee, said: “Pensions investment is a very complex topic, but we know many people have views and would like to help shape the investment decisions we make on behalf of members.
“In recent months we’ve heard very clearly from local campaigners – including pensions fund members – about their views and we’ve taken action to ensure our investments align with our existing approach to responsible investment.
“We’re committed to being transparent about these important decisions and really want to hear what matters most to members. I hope members will take the time to share their views via the survey. We will then seek independent advice on our next steps, to ensure recommendations reflect those views.”
Pension Fund members will receive a paper copy of the survey in the post and a digital copy if we hold an email address for them. The survey can also be completed at lewishampensions.org
The survey closes on 7 December.
