Online skills
The 2023 high streets survey found that only a third of independent high street businesses are selling online, compared to nearly 90% of national brands in the Lewisham Shopping Centre. About a third of independent business owners want to learn how to sell online but struggle with accessing resources, technology, and balancing it with running their business.
Committed to supporting local businesses and along with the site platform, the programme offers training and support to these early-stage businesses through e-commerce and small business skill development. In partnership with Local Marketing Made Easy (LMME), creators receive access to:
- workshops and webinars: covering e-commerce and in-person sales strategies, marketing, and business growth
- 1-2-1 Advisory Sessions: personalised guidance tailored to individual business needs
- group sessions and peer support to foster a greater sense of community for our featured creators
Our story
House of Lewisham was previously an online store born out of a desire to celebrate the unique culture and community of Lewisham. Initially inspired by the success of House of Catford, which started as a small venture selling Catford slogan sweatshirts, the brand quickly grew to encompass the entire borough.
Now, in its latest form and led by the Council, the site platforms small business stores, allowing shoppers to buy directly from our fantastic local creators. Shoppers are not only getting high quality, one of a kind products but also contributing to the growth and sustainability of local enterprises.
What you can find
Visitors to the new marketplace can expect to find a wide range of products and exclusive collaborations with local businesses, including Tiger's Eye Books, Flakies Fashion, Beautifully Unique, Beautifully Unique, Plateful Café, Julurie, Promoting Our Heritage, Scentsational Candles. More traders will be added in the coming weeks.
Key features of the House of Lewisham online store:
- seamless User Experience: Designed for intuitive navigation and accessibility
- marketing Integration: Tools to help businesses boost visibility and connect with customers
- secure Transactions: Robust payment gateways to ensure buyer confidence
