Project information
This scheme involved the redevelopment of 16 bedsits and an adjacent plot of undeveloped land to provide 30 new affordable homes for people over 55 years, with a communal garden room for residents to meet and socialise. The new homes were built to ‘Passivhaus’ standards – an international methodology for designing and constructing the type of buildings needed to address issues including climate change and fuel poverty. This is the borough’s first ‘Passivhaus’ housing scheme.
This development also includes two four-bed flats for students from Goldsmiths, University of London. This is an intergenerational scheme where the students will be required to perform the role of a ‘good’ neighbour to the residents, providing creative workshops as a contribution for living in subsidised accommodation.
Date of completion: March 2025
