Standing together against hate in Lewisham

This week is National Hate Crime Awareness Week (11-18 October), a time for us all to stand together against hate and reaffirm our commitment to making Lewisham a place where everyone feels safe and welcome.

As the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary, we have a proud and long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion. We stand firm in our belief that everyone should feel supported and valued, there is no place for hate in Lewisham.

To mark the week, we’re partnering with Stop Hate UK to deliver a free online Hate Crime Awareness Training Session on Friday 17 October at 10am via Microsoft Teams. The session will explore what hate crime is, how to report it, and how Stop Hate UK works with local partners to support people across Lewisham.

You can join the session here.

We continue to work closely with the police and local partners to offer 24/7 support for anyone affected by hate crime.

How to report hate crime

If you witness or experience hate crime, please speak out – every report helps us take action and keep our communities safe.

  • In an emergency, call 999
  • For non-emergencies, you can report online

Together, we can ensure Lewisham remains a borough where everyone feels united and proud to belong.
