Dementia Action Week

Join the Alzheimer’s Society throughout the week at any of our dementia Inclusive events.

Dementia action week takes place between 18-24 May. Helping to raise awareness, reduce stigma and encourage early diagnosis for people living with dementia in the UK.

Activities 

Monday 18 May 

Coffee, cake and chat

Leah Lodge and Rectory Court (Cinnamon Care Collection) will be organising several events throughout the week.  Pop into their café for a cup of tea, cake and a friendly chat.

Coffee Morning at the Glass Mill Leisure Centre

The community is invited to attend a coffee morning hosted by the Community Dementia Action Group. Come and meet some of the CDAG members including Alzheimers Society, Imago, Shared Lives, Lewisham Memory Service, Ageing Well , SELCE and others.

Age UK activities 

Join in with dementia inclusive activities run by Age UK Lewisham and Southwark

  • Music and Movement – 11am-12pm

Gentle seated exercise to music

Online Art Wednesday

Join this session with Arts 4 Dementia. 

  • Wednesday 20 May (2pm - 3pm) 
  • Where: Online, via a Zoom link we send out once signed up
  • What:  Artist Cici Goodfellow will be leading a fun creative session for participants to join in with. There is no cost for the Art Wednesday sessions, and they are designed for people to be able to take part without having to buy any special art materials. So, you will be able to use things you have at home already, such as pens, paper, pencils etc.

Thursday 21 May

Visit the beautiful Sydenham Garden between 10am and 12pm to have a walk in the garden and celebrate how much nature helps our wellbeing.  There will be a chance to find out more about Sydenham Garden, a leaflet about nature activities to try at home, a bird feeder and refreshments for all.

Silver Lunch Club

If you are over 60, Pop along to the Silver Lunch Club 

You will receive a warm cuppa, a freshly cooked lunch, and friendly conversation. This welcoming group also offers a mix of gentle exercise, games, arts and crafts, topical speakers, and entertainment. Free if it’s your first visit.
