Catford’s community festival returns this June

Organised by Lewisham Council with local partners, businesses and community groups, the Catford Community Festival brings everything into one place, making it easy for residents to celebrate their local area and discover what’s coming next.
Last year’s event, known as the Big Catford Weekender, brought more people into Catford town centre, with daily footfall up 7 per cent, giving a real boost to the high street and local businesses.
This year’s main event will take place on Saturday 27 June from 11am until 5pm, filling Catford Broadway with art, music, comedy, street food and activities for all ages. Entry is free, though some events require tickets.
In the lead up, there will be events running throughout the week, including the Catford Foodie Trail celebrating Catford’s incredible food and drink scene. From Friday 20 to Sunday 28 June, visitors can follow the trail to discover must visit venues and exclusive offers.
If you’re in the mood for a laugh, don’t miss Stand Up, a one-off comedy fundraiser for Lewisham Donation Hub, taking place at the Broadway Theatre on the evening of Saturday 27 June. The stellar line-up includes Reginald D Hunter, Nabil Abdulrashid, Abi Clarke, Nathan Caton, Radu Isac, Russell Hicks and Shazia Mirza. Tickets are available now via the Broadway Theatre website.
The full Catford Community Festival programme will be announced on Friday 5 June.
Mayor of Lewisham Liam Shrivastava said:
“This is about celebrating everything that makes Catford special – our diverse communities, incredible culture, music, creativity, great food, and that strong community spirit you feel right across the neighbourhood. It’s also a chance to show some love to the brilliant local businesses and community groups at the heart of our town centre.
“Over the coming months, I’m really looking forward to sharing our plans on how to make Catford cleaner, safer and a place everyone can be proud of.”
