Simple ceremonies

You can purchase one of our simple ceremonies packages, which provide a cost-effective way to celebrate the lives of a loved one in a non-traditional way.

Simple cremations

This service involves us taking care of the cremation process, a Lewisham Council partner organisation will take care of the sensitive transport of your loved one's body to the crematorium. Once medical paperwork has been approved, the cremation will take place without a service. 

This service is planned to appeal to those who do not wish to arrange a funeral via an official funeral director or those who want to arrange their own celebration of their loved one's life and need the body to be cared for in a straightforward and respectful manner.

Simple cremations package

• Fixed fee of £1,507
• collection and care of the person who has died from non-communicative disease
• completion of statutory medical papers and support with arranging any legal administration
• cremation costs
• provision of an environmentally friendly coffin suitable for cremation
• provision of a vessel for cremated remains to be kept that can be returned to the applicant's home by a member of staff within two working days of the service or kept onsite while the applicant makes further plans for a final resting place

The package does not include:

• use of any of the chapel buildings
• physical memorial at any of the cemeteries or memorial gardens
• viewing of the body

Use of a chapel building, a physical memorial and viewing of the body can be added for an additional cost.

A family member or friend of the deceased can simply contact the crematorium office or the out-of-office call centre, and the Cremation Authority will do the rest. The applicant will be called back to confirm the information needed for statutory medical paperwork. Only when the medical examiner and the Cremation Authority have given approval will the cremation take place at the earliest opportunity. 

The simple cremations package fixed fee covers everything for the bereaved with nothing further to pay until they wish to add more services, these are charged at reasonable rates, with use of space for a memorial service starting at £147.

Cremation bond

An affordable fixed fee cremation can be pre-paid with Lewisham Council's Hither Green Cemetery crematorium service. This is called a Cremation Bond, this secures and pays for a cremation at a later date, fixed at the price of when the bond was purchased.
