Winter markets announced for Deptford and Lewisham
Lewisham and Deptford will both host winter markets this December to help attract more people to the markets and boost footfall for local traders, as well as providing free festive activities for families to enjoy.
In addition to the regular street markets, both markets will host a free Santa’s Grotto, music performances, festive arts and crafts and additional street food stalls.
Deptford Winter Market: Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December (11am – 7pm)
Attracting thousands of people each weekend, Deptford Market is already one of the borough’s most popular destinations. Deptford Winter Market will aim to bring even more people to the market and high street in the run up to Christmas, featuring:
- Free Santa’s grotto
- Christmas tree lights switch-on (Friday 1 December - 7pm)
- Music performances and carol singing
- Free festive arts and crafts activities
- Street food stalls and extra outdoor seating
All of the regular Deptford Market stalls and traders will be there as usual and the normal pedestrianised zone on Deptford High Street will be temporarily extended up to Ffinch Street on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December, creating more space for residents and shoppers to enjoy.

Lewisham Winter Market: Friday 15 and Saturday 16 December (11am – 5.30pm)
Following on from a successful Winter Festival in 2022, Lewisham Winter Market will take place on the penultimate weekend before Christmas, attracting visitors to the market and town centre.
As well as the popular range of regular market stalls and traders, the Winter Market will feature:
- Free Santa’s grotto
- Giant snow globe (Saturday only)
- Music performances and carol singing
- Free festive arts and crafts activities
- Street food stalls and extra outdoor seating
