Third rapid test centre to launch in Lewisham
Rapid tests are now easily accessible to residents across the borough with a third test centre opening at Deptford Lounge from Monday 15 February.
We are calling on residents who need to leave their home for work, to volunteer or are unpaid carers to get tested twice a week to help protect those around them from COVID 19.
Rapid tests can be completed in as quickly as ten minutes and it usually takes no longer than 30 minutes for the results to be delivered by email or text message. Book a COVID-19 rapid test online.
Walk-in tests are now available at the Civic Suite and Green Man each day after 11am, but it may take a little longer to complete the test.
If you are working outside of your home, out in the community or coming into contact with customers, you are thought to be more at risk of spreading the virus.

Rapid, or lateral flow, tests can help us identify those individuals who may have COVID-19 without symptoms and this is an important step in helping to stop the spread of the virus.

Dr Catherine Mbema, Director of Public Health for Lewisham said:
“Since we introduced rapid testing in Lewisham, over seven thousand residents have received a rapid test at one of our sites. By getting a regular rapid test people who need to leave their homes for work, volunteering or caring responsibilities are helping to protect the people around them.”

“Getting a test is quick and easy. You get your results usually around 30 minutes after leaving the centre. It’s so important to get regularly tested to stop Covid-19 spreading.”
Rapid tests are only for people who don’t have symptoms. If you do have COVID-19 symptoms, you must stay at home (self-isolate) and book a test via nhs.uk/coronavirus or call 119. Do not come to the community testing centre at the Civic Suite, Deptford Lounge or The Green Man if you have coronavirus symptoms.
