The Mayor of Lewisham launches her Winter Appeal for 2024
Urban Synergy were named as the Mayor’s Charity for 2024 earlier in July. They are an award-winning youth empowerment charity which, to date, has helped over 27,000 young people aged between nine and 24. They inspire, guide, and ignite young people by providing them with mentorship and opportunities they otherwise would not have access to.
With the Winter Appeal launching, the Mayor is encouraging residents to consider donating to Urban Synergy to help provide the next generations with opportunities that help them to unlock their full potential.
Donations will help Urban Synergy to connect young people with a range of prospects from role models and industry leading companies.
Examples of what your donations can do:
- £5 will contribute towards essential resources to help and encourage young people to boost their self-belief and overcome challenges
- £15 will provide a young person access to a group session with role models who have overcome similar barriers, developing their confidence and motivation to build a brighter future
- £25 will provide a young person with career-focused assistance, including CV analysis and mock interview, fostering crucial professional skills and the self-belief needed to move forward
- £50 will help a young person access a corporate working environment, raise their aspirations and enhance employment knowledge to improve their life outcome
- £100 will contribute towards onboarding and training a mentor to kickstart a transformative one-to-one mentoring relationship of support and guidance, fostering personal and professional growth
- £250 will pay for a month of one-to-one mentoring for a young person providing them with access to a network, helping gain insight and pass on the confidence to write their own future
Mayor of Lewisham, Brenda Dacres, said:
"I know how generous people in Lewisham can be. We have brilliant young people who would love to the access and opportunity to pursue their dreams. I have seen the great work Urban Synergy does providing outstanding mentoring, school programmes, and work experience opportunities. Donations will go a long way in helping young people in the borough. Hopefully, we can spread the Christmas cheer to our young people by donating to Urban Synergy."
Last year’s winter appeal raised a huge £10,273 for Lewisham Foodbank. The amount was enough to feed over 200 families for a week and made a huge difference in the festive season.
