Celebrate Pride 2021

June is Pride Month and although it looks a little different this year, there are still lots of ways to celebrate our LGBT+ communities.

This year, the London Pride march will be taking place in September instead of June because of COVID-19. So we’ve put together a guide to Pride at home, so you can get in the spirit, celebrate, and learn, all from the comfort of your own home. We will also have various public displays for you to enjoy. The theme this year is visibility, unity and equality.

The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Dacres said:

“I am proud that Lewisham has such a diverse and active LGBT+ community and Pride Month is always a time of celebration for our borough. While we cannot come together in person this year as we normally would, I encourage everyone to celebrate Pride safely from home by getting involved in our many online activities and resources.

“We have come a long way in the fight for equality but we know that more still needs to be done. As an ally I know how important it is that we continue to celebrate Pride and support our LGBT+ community.”

Public displays

Laurence House and the Civic Suite will be illuminating Catford in rainbow colours throughout the month. Also look out for a pride exhibition in the Broadway Theatre windows.

Guide to pride at home

Our guide includes family friendly activities to do at home, interviews with members of our LGBT+ community, a special celebration playlist and Pride inspired reading list recommendations. We’ll also be delving into the history of Pride.
