Independent and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic business head count and survey
As one of London’s most diverse boroughs, tackling inequalities in all areas is a key priority for the Council.
In order to support the diversity of our high streets, we are committed to deliver an ongoing headcount of our local independent retailers on the high streets.
The aim is to monitor and provide a deeper understanding of the challenges business owners, particularly those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, are facing in the current climate in order to better support them and ensure they are set up to succeed. We were the first local authority to undertake a study of this kind, when we launched in 2021.
While we already deliver a comprehensive, and award-winning, package of support and promotion to local businesses, the surveys' findings will enable us to re-evaluate our offer, shape policies and deliver more targeted support.
