Remembrance Sunday 2026 Civic Services

Lewisham Council is hosting two Civic Services for Remembrance Sunday.

Remembrance Sunday is a national day, which falls on the second Sunday of November every year. It marks and honours all those who have lost their lives while serving the nation in a conflict. 

We gather on the day to pay our respect to those who have sacrificed their lives for our nation. 

Orders of services are going to be available for attendees at both sites, and both services include a wreath-laying ceremony.

Attendees are advised to dress appropriately and with the weather forecast in mind because the services take place outside. Neither service is sheltered.

Lewisham

This service is taking place at Lewisham War Memorial on Lewisham High Street, which is directly opposite Lewisham Hospital.

It is going to be led by Fr David Adamson-Hill of St Mary the Virgin, Lewisham, with participation from Council members, faith leaders, a Deputy Lieutenant, and armed forces representatives. 

The service will begin at 10.55am and end around 11.40am, with a brief pause at 11am for a two-minute silence.

The service will be proceeded and followed by a parade made up of local armed forces groups.

Deptford 

This service is taking place at Deptford War Memorial on the corner of Lewisham Way and Upper Brockley Road, with participation from a Deputy Lieutenant, Council members and local faith leaders. 

The service will begin at 10.55am and end around 11.40am, with a brief pause at 11am for a two-minute silence.
