Lewisham leisure centres will reopen in January

Information on Lewisham leisure centre reopenings.

Wavelengths and Forest Hill Pools are set to re-open on 4 January. Both centres have seen some improvements and have been made COVID Secure.

Following the confirmation that London has been placed in Tier 3, fitness classes will not resume until changes to government guidance allow for indoor group exercise.

In line with COVID-19 guidelines, there will be reduced opening hours, significantly reduced capacity with a one-way system in place, as well as changes to the layout of gym equipment to allow customers to maintain social distancing whilst exercising.

Customers will be asked to book in advance for Wavelengths and Forest Hill Pools and will be able to do so from 28 December via the BETTER UK App, better.org.uk, or via telephone line 07387 105 144 (9am – 5pm Monday to Friday). The centres will be open 7am – 9pm Monday to Friday and 7am – 3pm on weekends.

At Forest Hill Pools the gym and swimming pools will re-open. At Wavelengths, customers will be able to access gym facilities. However, the 25 metre swimming pool is undergoing some essential maintenance work and we will update further on an opening date for this early in the new year. The swimming pool will not reopen immediately and will be subject to further review in Spring 2021.

The Council’s new leisure partner, GLL, will continue the process of a full survey of each centre including Bellingham Leisure Centre and The Bridge with an update expected in early January.

Glass Mill Leisure centre, which successfully reopened its doors in November will operate with amended hours during the festive period. The centre will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. And it will close at 3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
