Ten people from Lewisham Council, including Damien Egan, Mayor of Lewisham, will be donning their trainers and gearing up to run in this year’s London Marathon on behalf of the 999 Club.

In total the team is hoping to raise over £10,000 to support the 999 Club’s work and premises. This includes their Gateway Centre where people can have a shower, have a meal or do their laundry, as well as accessing healthcare and other support services.

Mayor Damien Egan said, “We are proud to be running for such an important local charity. The 999 Club is a vital part of our community and the work they do with people experiencing homelessness is extraordinary. Many of us are first time runners and so this is a big challenge but one we are looking forward to!”

Donations can be made online.
