Parking for health workers

Information regarding parking for health workers.

We are committed to reducing emissions and discouraging non-essential car journeys, including for commuting. Public transport should be used where possible. You can find useful information for planning journeys by public transport on our Transport for London page .

If you must drive there are two types of parking permit options available to some NHS staff:

  • Community Health Permits – issued to those delivering hands-on care in the community, to park for four hours per location. Please contact your directorate administrator to find out if you are eligible to apply.

  •  Hospital Health Permits – issued by the hospital, these are on-street parking permits for those who are eligible and cannot use public transport due to their home location and shift pattern. The number of permits is restricted and there is a waiting list of eligible staff. For eligibility information and to join the waiting list, please contact the parking and security team at University Hospital Lewisham.

If you are a University Hospital Lewisham employee, you can talk to your administrator or Human Resources representative about the parking options available.

From 1 June 2021, there are no other Council permit types available for health workers. If you are not eligible for either of the above permits, there is a carpark in Holbeach permitting you to use PayByPhone to pay for parking.

For any queries with your permit, please contact the Lewisham Parking Permits Team:

Telephone: 0208 787 5397 and select option 3.
