We provide services that protect, care for and support children, young people and their families in the borough.

Keeping children safe

Services for children with complex needs and disabilities

If your child has a diagnosed disability, learning difficulty or life-limiting condition, you may be able to get help, advice or support.

Children in care and care leavers

We are responsible for caring for children and young people who cannot stay with their own families up until they reach the age of 25. We also support care leavers and care experienced young people.

Looking after someone else's child

Kinship carers, special guardians, foster carers, supported lodgings and adoption.

Making Lewisham an autism inclusive borough

In September 2023, we published our first Lewisham All-Age Autism Strategy. The strategy represents the first step of many in Lewisham’s journey to becoming an autism-inclusive borough.

Youth justice

We work with the community and local agencies such as the police and schools to help keep young people aged 10–17 out of trouble.
