Battery recycling

Batteries are classified as hazardous waste because they contain toxins. This means they need to be disposed of differently from ordinary waste.
Please check your details are correct

Please check that your details are correct before booking (correct address and email) as otherwise it could mean the service or order you have requested will be delayed.

Lewisham is in National lockdown: Stay at home restrictions

Find out about the COVID-19 restrictions.

Recycling bins

If you have booked for a bin or bag delivery on our website, received a reference number and have not received your bin, we would like to apologise for the delay.

We have unfortunately had a high percentage of staff off with COVID-19 or who are isolating. We are prioritising refuse collections at this time.

As soon as we have more staff available we will resume delivering booked requests.

Household batteries

You can take your batteries to the reuse and recycling centre at Landmann Way in New Cross.

Alternatively, BatteryBack provide household battery recycling points in shops like Tesco, Sainsbury's and Argos.

You are able to recycle the following battery types using either service:

  • 6V
  • D
  • C
  • AA
  • AAA
  • 9V
  • Button
  • Lithium Ion - used in laptops and newer mobile phones.

Car batteries

Car batteries must be taken to an authorised disposal centre, such as Halfords.
