Renewing your older person's Freedom Pass

If you have an older person's Freedom Pass that is due to expire on 31 March 2020, find out if you need to take action to renew it.

If you have used your pass in the last two years and your address hasn’t changed

You will be issued a Freedom Pass automatically.Passes will be issued February–March 2020.

If you haven’t used your pass in the last two years

Your freedom pass will expire on 31 March 2020 if you haven’t used your pass in the last two years.

You will not receive a letter about renewing your pass.If you would like a new one you can contact the Freedom Pass helpline.

If your address has changed

You will receive a renewal letter if:

  • our records show your address has changed and
  • you have used your pass in the last two years.

In the letter, you will be asked to update your details online or by post in order to receive a new Freedom Pass.

Renewal letters will be sent in mid-January 2020.

Updating your details online

If you would like to update your details online but do not have internet access, you can use the internet for free in any of our libraries.

If you do not know how to use the internet you can do a free online digital skills course at Learn My Way. You can also get digital support at one of our drop-in digital sessions.

What should I do with the old pass when I get my new one?

As soon as you have your new pass it is ready to use. Please don’t wait until the old one expires.

Once you are using your new pass, please destroy the old one because it will no longer work.

Disability Freedom Pass

If you have a Disability Freedom Pass we will use information we already hold about you to confirm your ongoing entitlement. If we can't do this, we will send a renewal form for you to complete and return.
