Building projects – site inspections

It is your responsibility to ensure we inspect your building project at the relevant key stages.

Typical stages include:

commencement of work
excavation
foundations
site hardcore
concrete oversite
damp-proof course
drains inspection
drains testing
most structural elements
any unusual elements
occupation of building
completion of building.

Additional inspections may be required at the discretion of your building control officer to suit the particular project.

Calls requesting an inspection for the following day will normally be accepted if they are received by 4pm.

Information we need:

the application reference
the site address
what needs to be inspected
preferred date of visit
preference of morning or afternoon visit
your name and contact phone number

Urgent inspections

Officers may be called out at any time during working hours if urgent help is required at another site, or they have to attend to a dangerous structure. In these circumstances we will do our best to return the same day or reschedule a visit for the next working day.
