Renewing library items

Find out about renewing items borrowed from a library.
Libraries services

Limited services are available at Hub and Community Libraries due to COVID-19 restrictions. Find out more about changes to our library service.

We are keeping COVID-secure measures in place across our buildings to protect our staff, residents and visitors

Please continue to wear a face covering if you can and maintain social distance in our buildings. This includes our libraries, leisure centres and learning centres.

How to renew

You can renew your items:

  • You can renew items ten times. After that, you need to bring your items into the library to renew them again.

  • Language courses can only be renewed five times.

  • Each loan period is 21 days.

  • You cannot renew an item if another library member has requested it.

What can be renewed?

You can renew books, audio books and language courses. 

Renewing digital collections

  • You can renew eBooks and eAudio from OverDrive and Borrowbox if there are no outstanding holds or reservations on them.
  • You can download digital items in PressReader an unlimited number of times with no charges.
