Summer reading challenge for 4–11-year-olds

Throughout the summer children can take part in the annual reading challenge.

This year the summer reading challenge will take place online.

How to take part

The summer reading challenge is free and this year starts on Friday 5 June. All you need to take part is a library card, which you can get by joining any library in the borough.

About the challenge

Children aged 4–11 read any books of their choice over the summer. Lewisham Libraries will be giving out prizes throughout the summer and there will be a prize draw at the end.

You can join in on the Lewisham Libraries Facebook page.

Get the ebooks and audiobooks for the Summer Reading Challenge 2020 online.

You can also access an extra collection of Summer Reading Challenge 2020 books with no waiting online. These have been selected by the Reading Agency and generously made always available by HarperCollins.

Summer reading challenge 2020 theme

This year’s theme is the Silly Squad, celebrating funny books, happiness and laughter. You can join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck in to all different kinds of funny books!

There will be videos to watch and jokes and games to join in with on the Reading Agency website and Lewisham Libraries facebook pages and you will still get a certificate when you finish your challenge.
