Throughout the summer there are free themed children's activities in our libraries. To keep up to date, sign up for children's activities by email.

How to take part

The summer reading challenge is free and this year starts on Saturday 13 July. All you need to take part is a library card, which you can get by joining any library in the borough.

About the challenge

  • Children aged 4–11 are asked to read six books of their choice over the summer holiday.

  • For each book they read, they collect stickers and rewards.

  • When they have completed the challenge, they get a medal.

Theme

This year's theme is Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

Children taking part in the Challenge will join the super space family, The Rockets, for a thrilling mission to track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens!

Throughout the summer there will be free Space Chase activities in our libraries. Look out for more details.
