Free books for babies and three-year-olds (Bookstart)

Bookstart is a programme that offer free books for babies and three-year-olds.

What does Bookstart involve?

Bookstart gives free books to inspire a love of reading in children.

Who is eligible?

Reading packs are usually given to families at baby's 7-11 month developmental check. If you miss out on your pack, you can collect one from your local library.

They are also given to three year olds at nurseries or pre-schools across the borough. If your child is three and doesn't go to nursery, ask at your local library for further details on how to get a pack.

Are there any other programmes to encourage reading?

Our libraries offer lots of other fun activities for you and your child to take part in. Find out more about our range of under 5s sessions.
